There were multiple reports of villages and towns being set on fire in Myanmar during September 2021.
However, some of the videos that were going viral were from different countries or different moments in time altogether.
Our team was working continuously to identify and amplify the real videos that were telling the true story of what was happening.
Thantlang Fires (part 2)

A few days after we'd verified the first video of fires raging in Thantlang, another video came out of someone driving through the town and filming out of the window of their car.
We used this video to identify the exact area that had been attacked and destroyed, which could provide critical evidence in proving who started the fires.
